Do you cough or clear your throat a lot?

You may have acid reflux

I can teach you how to say goodbye to your Reflux & Cough

Reflux

There are two types:

  1. Gastro-oesphageal reflux disease (GORD) generally results in hearburn and can be quite easily diagnosed.
  2. Laryno-pharyngeal reflux (LPR)  – also known as “Silent Reflux” can be much harder to diagnose as you can have it with no obvious symptoms.

LPR is a major cause of voice problems and has also been linked with poorly controlled asthma. Even without a voice problem it can make you feel uncomfortable.

People who have attended reflux management support sessions with me have said that once it had improved, they felt so much better in themselves, and realised quite how bad they had felt before.

I can help with the diagnosis of LPR and can support both your GP’s medical (medicine) management and lifestyle adaptations needed to resolve your reflux.

I can also help with the management of chronic cough, that is not lung based.

What happens at an appointment?

Assessment

Your first appointment will last an hour. At this appointment I will take a detailed case history from you. This will include your medical history and lifestyle. I will screen you to see if you are likely to have reflux . I will teach you about the main two kinds of reflux and will give you tailored advice on medical issues to discuss with your GP and lifestyle changes that will help. None of this is physically invasive.

Therapy

Therapy appointments will usually last half an hour and tend to include following up on previous advice Therapy sessions can involve quite a lot of problem solving to work out how to make the necessary lifestyle changes needed.
